Jarder Productions Launch and Network Event Preview –October 24th, 2013
“I want to start by changing the culture in our industries in Vancouver. If you put all of your resources, assets, and networks towards a similar goal, things will change” -Mark Jarder 2013
Coming this Saturday of October 26th, Mark Jarder, a well established local media producer will be launching his new brand Jarder Productions, setting a new “standard in business and professionalism” (from official press release October 2013) hosted at the Waterfall Building.
This past weekend, Vernard Goud of LuvnGrace Affair put on a fashionable event at the Waterfall Building with the theme ‘Beauty & Fashion Against Ageism’ – the second event of its kind this summer. The evening consisted oftwo fashion shows – the first by Blushing Boutique, and the second by swimwear company Qispi Kay Swimwear (both brands have been staples at several of Vernard’s previous events). What made the shows so special and memorable were the models – all of whom were in their 30s/40s/50s. In a world where (seemingly) 98% of models are in their teens or early twenties, it was a refreshing and (much welcomed) change to see mature talent walk (and rock) the runway. The event drew a large, diverse crowd with plenty of familiar faces to the Vancouver fashion scene.
Proceeds from the evening supported Beauty Night Society (a great cause that Vernard is quite fond of). The organization builds self-esteem and changes lives for women and youth living in poverty through streams of programming wellness, life skills development and makeovers. “Changing the world one life-makeover at a time” is their mantra. Since their inception 12 years ago, Beauty Night has helped with 26,000 life makeovers, thanks in large part to their 500 volunteers! A silent auction also took place, with donations from the likes of Bella Garnet, Lashfabulous, Skin By Lisa Marie and The Beauty Boutique at Shopper’s Drug Mart.
Gastown Tattoo Celebration Art Show – April 20, 2013
Gastown Tattoo Parlour hosted a 2 year Anniversary Celebration Art show this weekend. This was an open and local community event. Everyone was welcome, with food and refreshments on the house. The evening included live music, and was a very chill and relaxed atmosphere commonly found at a trendy lounge.
We were in Gastown Tattoo Parlour previously as part of our research in to the process of tattoo removal a few weeks ago (see it here at our previous article!). Breaking away from the image of a stereotypical tattoo parlour, the venue is open and airy, well lit and clean. Showcase of their talent is shown on the walls and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere definitely helps put one at ease.
Watch for Gastown Tattoo Parlour to be represented at Vancouver Tattoo Show @ the Vancouver Convention Centre coming April 26 – 28th!
